Introducing Robert Jones
KALAMAZOO AND BENTON HARBOR - Access to additional small business services and resources has been made easier to both start up entrepreneurs and existing businesses with the announcement of the new Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC) satellite office at the Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren in Benton Harbor, MI. Robert Jones has been hired as a fulltime business consultant to provide counseling at no cost in addition to training and secondary research services to new and existing small business owners. He will have regular office hours at the Michigan Works! locations in Benton Harbor, Paw Paw and Dowagiac.
Bob Jones is a former small business owner and has six years of small business consulting experience through his work as a program manager with Cornerstone Alliance in Benton Harbor, MI. While in this position, Bob provided technical and business planning assistance to developing companies and entrepreneurs through one-on-one counseling and classroom instruction. He also was involved in the coordination of the SBA Microloan Program for Cornerstone Alliance’s Renaissance Development Fund.
“Bob’s addition to the MI-SBTDC team will allow for a more concentrated effort of business consulting services to the counties of Berrien, Cass and Van Buren. We are looking forward to increasing impact for small businesses in this area,” MI-SBTDC regional director, Tamara Davis stated. “We are also excited to offer increased training opportunities to foster new business expansion and aid existing businesses with strategies for growth.” Michigan Works executive director, Todd Gustafson, says this kind of collaboration is unique for the region. While a handful of other Michigan Works organizations in the state have SBTDC consultants on their business solutions teams, this is a first for Michigan Works Berrien, Cass, Van Buren. “We’re very excited about this partnership,” Gustafson said. “The unique challenges businesses face in the 21st century require teamwork on the part of business and workforce development, the strength of our economy depends on it.”
